Hey,

I am trying to make a conjugation list for verb tenses as a vocabulary schedule.
What I would really like to do is just input the word as I wrote it without having to select something given on Renshuu.  Is there a way to do this?

Example:
When I input certain words, such as, かいて, the definition given is something off, so I cannot select what I want, which is "to write".  I could input いて and search to get the correct definition, but I want to be later tested on the term in hiragana alone, not the kanji.  I know you can just make a list with custom vocabulary in Anki, but can you do this on Renshuu.org?

Thank you!

- Sarah

Hey:

I do not completely understand what you are asking for, but let me see if I can help.

When you make a custom user lesson, you can choose words out of the dictionary, then add custom definitions to the words that are already present. Once that is done, you can use either regular quizzes or schedules to study only hiragana->definition, definition->hiragana, etc. You can completely hide the kanji questions if you want to!

Please let me know if this helps; I will try to help more if it is lacking.

When you search for custom lessons, it does search against conjugations as well, so you would get both 'buyer', and 'to write'.

Let me try to clarify.

I want to input something as is, without relying on what is already in the renshuu dictionary.
Example: I want to enter, e.g., かいて, but because that was already in the dictionary, as "buyer," (noun) I cannot add it and then change it to "to write, -te form" (verb) because the grammar would be different, etc.

Another example, if I add a term (with hiragana), and it is recognized but with kanji that is not normally used, I cannot change the term back to hiragana form or even with another kanji character; this is because the term is already recorded in the dictionary with the other kanji.  I know that I can change the definition, but I actually want to change the term.  Or just input it anew.

I wish sometimes that there was an option for when you enter a term that already exists in the dictionary but if you don't like what is listed in the dictionary, you can do an 'add to list' (like for terms that were not recognized).

Here is a working example.  Right now, I typed in both "きます" and "ます".  Usually, it should recognize the verb conjugations, as you say.  But in this case, it doesn't.  It says "come (phrase)".  What I *want* is for it to be like "conjugation of る, to come, (blah blah blah) (verb)".  But, I am stuck with this definition if I want it in my list.

I believe that the search will not check the term against the verb conjugations if there is already an entry in the renshuu dictionary.  That is an issue.

Sounds like 2 issues. I will look into the second, and figure out the best way to implement the first (although it might not make it in until the next beta round). Will respond when I get info on the second one.

The きます issue should be resolved, and the 'new definition' issue will be included in the next beta round. Please confirm the fix for me when you get a chance!
