I could've put this in the Japan, Japan, Japan folder, but I figured I would expand the conversation a bit beyond Japan itself. Still, on that subject, did anyone watch the Japan v. Cameroon game this morning? I missed it because I was in an interview, but I saw some of the highlights. I'm pleasantly surprised since I thought Japan would lose all its games based on their recent terrible form. I don't see them beating Holland but maybe Denmark presents a fair target. If they can beat Denmark, who knows?

Otherwise, I don't know where you all are from, but I'm going for the U.S. I think we can get through the group stage (Algeria and Slovenia are good, but we're better, methinks), but unless we win our group and avoid Germany, I don't see us going beyond the 1st knock-out stage. I've also decided to cheer for a few more teams; namely, Ghana, Holland, and of course Japan. I'll be hoping for a draw in the Holland/Japan game, but I'm not confident that will happen!

Who are you all rooting for (if anyone)? If you don't like soccer/football/futbol, don't bother commenting!

Well, being a Canadian football fan, I'm yet again disappointed in our weak qualifying performance...

Don't really have any emotional investment in any other teams but I suppose if anyone I'll probably root for Japan (until they get knocked out).

Otherwise I'll just be enjoying the games and annoyed to no end by the vuvuzelas...

Why not root for the U.S.? We're your biggest trading partner and we need all the help we can get. Seriously, people here refuse to recognize the greatness of this game.

I should clarify that Canada is also America's biggest trading partner, so it's a 2-way street!

I'm portuguese, therefore I'm cheering for Portugal, but we suck as a team, we tied against Ivory coast today. Our coach is the cause I believe, we have good players.

Asking a Canadian why they don't root for the U.S. is not far off from asking a Scot why they don't cheer for England...just ain't gonna happen my friend

外交官 -> I was disappointed by the Portugal-Ivory Coast game today. Why was Portugal playing so defensive? Maybe it is the coach's problem in that regard.

I would've commented if I had much interest but I don't... sorry! That being said, I'll root for USA and Japan until they get knocked out.

aish, since i never really read threads, lets hope that i'm not reviving a dead thread. i watched the world cup, or at least parts of it. watching the japan game was really intense, even though i wasn't even really rooting for them in the long run. (i'd been rooting for sk actually..)

Reviving dead threads is fun since so few people actually post! So, are you from SK originally?
