Below are a list of the changes that have been made to renshuu.org.
New textbooks materials added
6 textbooks' materials added - the Official Textbooks section has been expanded to now include Tobira, Adventures in Japanese (Volumes 1,2, and 3), and Yookoso (1,2). There have also been a few textbooks finished by users in the user-lessons section, including the first volume of minna no nihongo!
JLPT vocab lists updated - between 5-10% of the previous lists were altered (some terms removed, some added).
Kanji and vocabulary quizzing
Cleaned up categories - the left bar with the categories has been adjusted a bit to make it easier to a)select categories and b)see what's selected. You can also easily hide/show unwanted categories to make the list smaller.
New quiz options boxes - The quiz options boxes for kanji and vocabulary have been simplfied: you can now see an example question appear as you choose options so you can see exactly how it'll look.
New how-to page - The old 'how to use this page' page was scrapped for a new one with an easy-to-understand video.
User-lessons displayed differently - The old table-style display for user-lessons was replaced with a simple 1)select the group and 2)select the lessons format; this is much more similar to the official lessons so you don't have to learn two ways of using it.
User lessons
Tags removed - the tags were removed since 99% of the time the tag information was simply replicating the information in the title/description.
Add conjugated verbs - user lists can now handle conjugated verbs that are entered into the search box.
Warning on duplicated words - the creation tool will warn you if a word is already in the list.
User-made lessons on stats page - any public lessons a user has made are now available on their stats (うち) page.
Cleared up the options on lesson editing - the options when making/editing a lesson have been cleared up, especially the category/group stuff.
Grammar library
Revamped main page - the main page has been completely redone - the navigation is simpler (and similar to the quiz setup page), and the grammar listings have been greatly simplified (while keeping all the information in there). There's also a new marker that'll automatically gather grammar you've written sentences for.
Revamped individual pages - pages for individual grammar have been redone: there's now a nice navigation box on the top that can help you get to different spots on the page. It's now a lot easier to use the page without a lot of scrolling.
'Save grammar' - you can save grammar you're interested in; there's a new marker on the main page that'll let you get back to that grammar easily.
'Save sentences' - you can save an unlimited amount of sentences written by other users - these'll appear (grouped by date or by grammar point) on your 'my sentence library' page.
Sortable sentences - some of the grammar pages have a lot of user sentences, so you can now sort those sentences on a variety of parameters.
Grammar titles - the grammar titles have been redone to include furigana.
Settings page - schedules' settings pages have been cleaned up, the options clarified and the instructions simplified.
Dictionary
Dictionary moved to bottom - the dictionary link is now on the bottom of the page - but it sits there, so you can get to it even if you scroll down a page.
Grammar dictionary - there's now an option to search for grammar in the site's grammar library.
Mastery system and schedules
Mastery levels upgraded - the mastery level has been overhauled, and now can much more intelligently schedule terms for future studying. The system now looks not only at the current mastery level, but the overall accuracy on that term (both for that study vector and all study vectors). For example, a level 4 term will be scheduled further in the future if you've never missed it (compared to one where you've missed it as many times as you've gotten in right).
Simplified quiz options - the mastery schedule's quiz options have been redone and simplfied for easier usage.
Settings page - schedules' settings pages have been cleaned up, the options clarified and the instructions simplified.
Other
Quiz setting - common kanji readings - if chosen, the site will automatically grey out readings in the site's dictionary that aren't commonly used.
Quiz shortcut - hide results - for those that don't like the result box on the page when they're answering the next question, this shortcut is for you.
'New message/alerts' - this has been enhanced; you can 'dismiss' the warning at any time, but it'll still rememeber which alerts/messages yuo have/haven't read when you go to the messages page.
Translation removed - the translation pages have been removed. You can now add translations by clicking 'incorrect' when you see a sentence without an English translation.
New FAQ page - the faq page was completely rewritten, is all up to date, and is much longer.
Better IE compatibility - several pages were cleaned up to look better in Internet Explorer.
New site portal/news - the news page/portal page has been completely redone.
Let's Talk/Mashup cleaned up - the data/navigation on these pages were rewritten to fit better with the rest of the site.
