I can type to speak perfectly well but my brain runs dry when i try to speak or respond to anything (even if i try to practice)
It makes me feel really silly and embarrassed
Any tips on how to get better at speaking in japanese?
I'd say immerse yourself with Japanese. Look at things pertaining Japanese conversation. Practice with yourself, or you could try asking others for a quick bit of help.
or when you learn the phrases, say them out loud! You can type a sentence, and then repeat it out loud and I think Renshuu has study pals and study friends to practice with!

I want to do that but im nervous when it comes to talking with other people too
Learn model dialogues and use them to have imaginary conversations with yourself.
If you read mangas or watch anime, you could try to use them without subtitles. You could also get AI tutoring lessons in japanese. I make flashcards and write in a notebook.
Read outloud, write down useful sentences and memorise them, use sentences from renshuu dictionary and don't forget to use your vocab in every day life by replacing English words with Japanese words you know (outloud), listen to YouTube podcasts with two people talking and try to repeat after them, learn a bit about particles to start (how to build sentences), write your own sentences

You just need to get comfortable with someone, try to find some friends first or someone who is just willing to help you
