Are there any plans to create a version of the renshuu app (for mobile or PC) that is able to function without internet connection?
This would be nice for people (such as myself) who like to study daily, but don't always have a good internet connection, or just want to study offline.
Nope! If you search for "offline" in the forums, I bet you find a few more topics where I talk about it. Just not possible. :(

Okay. Sucks, but no problem. (Sorry about the repeat post, didn't think to check first.)
If I may ask, what is the main problem(s) in making an offline verison? Im curious, if for no reason beyond the career field I'm going into.
renshuu is already far from an ideal state - I get constant complaints because the apps don't look like apps, outdated, etc, and that's because there is a shared code base between renshuu.org (the site) and renshuu (the apps). Even with that, my time is spread extremely thin.
Offline would essentially require a completely rewrite of huge chunks of code so not live on the server, and be inside the app instead. As it is, the two apps are written in different languages, so there'd be 2 or 3 different codebases that I'd need to manage, not one.
On top of that, renshuu is BIG. Last I checked, a few years ago, well past 500,000 lines of code. Even taking a fraction of renshuu (like the quizzes) would be a huge chunk of that.
So if I had a year of pure development, ignoring the entire entity of renshuu as a company, I might make a dent in the work, but of course, I would not have the time to maintain it if it was made.
Very interesting. Thanks for the breakdown. I'm always interested to learn more about the dev side of things. And hey, it may not be much, but Renshuu's user accessibility, visual interface, and suite of functions is very very well-made; at least once a week I find myself reccomending it to people, and citing it as an example of good design principles in my uni writings about HCI. It sounds like you've got a lot on your plate, but I hope you're staying well, man; world needs more people like you who put care and effort into things. That's it for now, though. Thanks for answering my questions.
