Recently, I've been feeling like I see vocab items again very quickly (even sometimes the next day) if I fail them in my quizzes, even if the items are at high mastery levels. I was wondering, is this true, or is it just me imagining things?
I don't consistently use renshuu every day, or finish all my reviews, so it's been hard for me to work out what's actually going on!
Yeah, I’m pretty sure that if you make a mistake, the term will show up in your next review. It makes sense that the app checks, whether you have figured out the right answer in the meantime, or whether you actually need to study it more on lower mastery
If you miss a term, you haven’t reviewed it successfully, so it is still in a needs review status and will come up again.
Thanks for the info!
So, I guess my next question is, is there a way to change this behaviour?
(As for why - for me personally, I feel like I often get stuck in a loop of [mistake -> (next day) correct -> (long interval) mistake -> (next day) correct] with some of my trickiest items. For an item I've studied a lot but am struggling with, 'next day' reviews are too easy, but the long interval reviews are too hard! However, as I keep getting the next-day extra reviews correct the item never really drops down to a level where the review intervals become manageable for me.
Personally, I think I prefer SRS where a mistake on a high level item drops it to an intermediate level with a mid-length interval, without adding a bonus 'you made a mistake last time' review. Very possibly renshuu already has this functionality though, and I just haven't found the correct way to set things up!)
So in the general app settings(sidebar) in the Quizzing section there is an option to adjust how much your mastery drops after a mistake. You can make it drop a few levels so that the term appears more often(I assume it affects all schedules). Also I believe that in the advanced schedule settings(or elsewhere, I’m not sure) you can adjust the length of each mastery level’s interval, if you need all terms to come up more often. So yeah, there’s a couple of things you can manipulate in this regard, I might even be missing something
But I’m not sure if you can get rid of the next-day review. Maybe someone else can help with that
