I wasn't sure of the difference between れがある and かねない, so I asked a Japanese friend about it. After clarifying with her, I thought that I'd share what I learned:

"かねない = This might happen". (If X happens, Y might be the result)
"れがある = the reason might be that this happened" (Y has already happened, and the reason may be X)

I hope this helps someone else!
