I have a few questions regarding custom definitions.

1. Are custom definitions private?

2. Is there somewhere I can find a list of “shortcodes” (I don’t know if that’s the correct term) one can use in custom definitions like (abbr) for abbreviations or {comp} for computer-related terms?

(I know I could simply write them manually but the “shortcodes” appear in different/smaller font in quizzes, which makes things easier to read.)

3. In particular, is there such a “shortcode” for katakana words?

Thank you in advance for your help!

1. Yes.

2. Here is a raw dump of the shortcodes at the bottom of this post. I'll add it to the FAQ when I do the general revision this or next month.

To use them, surround the shortcode in parentheses.

Ex. マージ - (comp) to merge or combine sets of data

Thank you sooo much for compiling the shortcode list! It’s exactly what I was looking for. Also, thank you for adding the katakana shortcode – it’s going to come in very handy.

Sorry to bother you again but the newly added katakana shortcode (kata) appears as (DTRANS_KATA) after saving the custom definition...

You probably haven't gotten the new text string that was uploaded for that. Mind logging out and back in?
