From what I know, 会社員 is a company employee and 店員 is an employee or salesperson. So would all 会社員 be 店員 but not all 店員 are 会社員? How would I know which term to use? Sorry if this is confusing 😅
店員 is literally shop member, and 会社員 is company member. In practice, 店員 are customer facing positions. So for example, all the employees of a bank would 会社員, but only the employees that interact with customers, not the ones in the back office, would be 店員.
