Hi, I started to learn Japanese by renshuu a few months ago, and I'm having hard times with grammer recently.

I don't think I can really figure out the difference between くれる and いただく, and I don't know which one I should use in some situations. For example:

もうしていただいていいですか?

このしてくれますか?

Sometimes I wonder whether it's possible for these two words to be used interchangeably......

Would you mind giving me a little help with this question?

I feel your pain.

First off, these are which verb means what, and where to use them:

あげる(subject gives to someone outside your circle)(receiver is labelled with に)

Humble form: げる {さしあげる}

.

くれる (subject gives to someone in your circle)(receiver is labelled with に)

Honorific form: さる {くださる}

.

もらう (subject receives)(giver is labelled with に)

Humble form: いただく

.

So when a sentence has a が and に it becomes a bit clearer. But, to make it hard for us, these often get dropped, because they are obvious to the speaker and listener.

And, even though give and receive might seem to be opposites, it is possible to ask for something using either.

もうしていただいていいですか?Would it be okay if I receive a little bit more of an explanation.

(The above puts focus on the receiver)

このしてくれますか? Could you give me an explanation to this problem.

(The above puts focus on the giver)

It's a bit abstract for me, but with your instructions, I feel it starts to become more clearer now.

I will think more thoroughly, try to get more sentences to chew on these two concepts over and over again.

Thanks a lot for your detailed instructions!
