Hi Michael, my quizzes are set to mix question types. I will run through the exercises quickly and always trip on clicking the answer option that fulfills the first blank instead of the star. Muscle memory reflex, acts faster than I realize the question was star selection. Since the current star selection UX is unforgiving, i.e. accidental click will submit answer, there is no way to reconfirm.
I have observed an improvement recently that gives a question answering hint with the green star. That did help a bit, but i still continue to trip on that question as if it is sentence jumble.
Wondering whether it is possible to introduce an alternative UX behind a settings flag?
Suggested UX options:
1. clicking an answer option replaces the star location with the clicked word, and user have to click "submit" button like sentence jumble. User can click any other word to replace the star location's word.
2. like sentence jumble, user have to drag an option into the star location. Better to also click "submit", but can do without, as user is consciously matching answer term to position visually.
Generally having a "submit" step is more forgiving for my quick reflexes primed by previous exercises, or just a default urge to start reading from the first blank, when the star is not at the first blank.
Have you tried using the "How to order quiz questions" setting under the main settings panel? It'll group questions by type so you're not jumping back and forth between them.
Thanks for the reminder, Michael. Yes, I am aware of that option flag. However I would like to do randomnize question type to be able to train in switching context quickly. It seems to backfire only on the star selection so far. (catch-22, I know)
I could turn on the quiz ordering option as you suggested, and that'll reduce my error rate to only the first star-selection question in the sequence. Ok as a trade off, but clashes with context-switch training objective.
I have to state that I am using this on mobile interface with "simplify quiz area" and "keep quiz vocabulary same size" option turned on.
Thank you for your quick response!
Thanks! I will keep these in mind, but these are pretty focused settings that I believe will only affect a small number of people (and they'd have to be settings, as they'd be decidedly less convenient for the majority of people). renshuu being as settings-heavy as it already is, I am somewhat hesitant towards adding settings without giving them a good, long thinking through.
