I was hoping to be able to disable and enable romanji in settings, because I wanna get used to reading hiragana and katakana without having to see how it is in romanji. If it isn’t, I’d love to suggest it because it could really help in your progress, if you could be get used to reading them without translating it.
The app is looking nice so far, so I’m hoping to be able to do this in the future if It isn’t a feature already :)
This is not possible - you're referring to the hiragana and katakana alphabets, and since those characters do not have an inherent meaning, the "meaning" of them is the pronunciation, which is written in romaji. So け, for example, is "ke (hiragana)", as that represents the only real information that can be attached to it. If that was removed, there would not really be anything to test the characters on.
Don't worry, though, - the romaji ONLY exists in the alphabet schedules. Once you move onto words, there is no romaji (not even an option for it) - so you'll be learning the words using the Japanese alphabet only.
Ah ok, I’m definitely ok with that kinda system. I have trouble paying attention to the actual hiragana when I see romanji right next to the words, so that’s really helpful for me at least.
