Is there a study schedule that you can practice writing hiragana and katakana before moving to kanji? I never practice any writing and would like to start to try.
I believe the Hiragana and Katakana lessons are in Japanese Basics. You can add those schedules by using the "Manage your schedules" under the dashboard.
However, to access the writing vector for those schedules (or any schedule), I believe you have to be a Renshuu Pro user.
However there are some other options:
- the Quick Draw game where you can practice writing
- Select the "Use fill-in-the-blank for kana answers" on your schedule, and then when kana questions come up, you can use the handwriting input tool if you want to get in some writing practice. The better you write the character, the closer it tends to appears to the first option in the selector. (I also use this for getting in kanji writing practice)
I found what the Japanese Basics lessons for kana, but maybe I am doing something wrong. I write the character and then I choose the character that shows up and it filled in the dialog box. When I submit the answer, it shows incorrect. Either way it is practice but it is a bit annoying that it says it is wrong.
If needed I am a lifetime pro user.
If it says incorrect, tap the ? button at the top of the app, then submit a quiz report. That'll let me see what's going on :)
Submitted.
I believe I’m also at fault on some of these as well. I automatically assumed it was always going to ask for writing instead of definition.
A second error, or user error, is when following the stroke guide on writing. It always said incorrect even though I set it to gentle grading. There’s no way I can trace the line exactly with my finger or even with a stylus.
Do you mind sending me a video of the writing issue? Definitely sounds like a bug, as gentle will typically allow a good amount of variance. You can send it to michael@renshuu.org.
I wonder if it’s complaining about the stroke order.
I don’t think it’s stroke order as some of them are just one or two strokes like そ or え. I presume if it shows me an option to either mark as correct or mark for review, it is incorrect. I will send a video over.
Ah, no that’s the way it always works. It’s self graded.
