If you can, please continue to use the grammar quizzes. I'll be adding adjective conjugations this week.
Round 2 focuses -Grammar library (main page) -Setting up a kanji/vocab quiz (specifically, selecting the materials). *or* -Adding/removing materials from schedule.
These are all based on the same layout, and are all completely new. More specifically, I'd love feedback on: 1)Ease of finding/browsing grammar lists (not the individual pages) 2)Accessing/editing/adding/removing custom lists (using the 'My lessons' subheader)
These pages have been redesigned for simplicity and keeping the minimum amount of information on the page; I know it's easy for power users, but these pages have typically been a bit of a burden for first timers.
*Bonus* If you have time, I'd love feedback on the following: 1. 'Binding' your user sentences to the dictionary 2. Layout/information on the profile/stats page
I created a new vocab time-based quiz, which was successful. It dumped me at a page where I couldn't do much, so I selected the newly created quiz from the top menubar. I then got an error page that wouldn't go away until I went back to the main home page. No other links would yield anything but the standard generic error page that said the admin had been notified.
Every time i select the new schedule (called "lesson 6" in my list), i get:
I'm sorry, but an error has occured on the site! The admin (that's me!) has been notified, and it will be fixed as soon as possible! Please use the links at the top-left of the page to return to the main area of the site.
Return to prev page
and even opening a new tab to renshuu.org yields the error. The only thing that works is clicking the logo on the error page. Every other page gives an error.
Great idea! More useful error messages are always good. I'll work on that right now. I won't be able to update it immediately (the dev version of the site is drifting away from the beta version, so only some things can be safely updated on beta until I move it *all* over), but it'll be in there.
I have added/removed lessons and set up new kanji and vocabulary mastery quizzes. It proceeded smoothly. I found the page information easy to use. I will try to spend time on grammer list this week.
I have not found any problems to report as yet. So far the impressions of the new grammar library and schedule materials pages have been very positive. Response time is greatly improved (seems to be the case all over the site, particularly noticable switching back to the non-beta version), and the layouts seem very organized and logical.
Will keep prodding but just wanted to comment to say well done.
I've tried to remove some lessons from my kanji schedule and add some new lessons. That part worked but when I click save I get "I'm sorry, but an error has occured on the site!..." message. Same happens when I try to open that schedule or click save again...
Also I noticed that when I open my "user made" lessons or JLPT kanji lessons that I know I've taken it says "Not yet taken" under the lesson name.
jankii: please go back to the schedule and try to re-add any lessons that appear to be missing (I made some changes). If you still get the problem, let me know exactly what you're trying to add.
Dan: this is unrelated to the thread, but I fixed it anyways :P
I clicked around the grammar library and I think the changes are all fine, they look very clean and simple. I didn't run into any bugs or other problems. A few of the category names are sort of odd ('situations and experiences' made me raise an eyebrow) but I'm not sure what there is to do about that really.
also, while I'm at it, I clicked around my mastery graphs for a little too and didn't turn up any bugs there either. Looks fine.
It seems as though the search function on the quiz setup page and mastery schedule add/remove page doesn't behave very well when the search term is in kanji or kana. If I search for "minna no nihongo" I get results (including titles containing kanji or kana - so presumably it converts from romaji), but searching for "みんなの日本語" yields nothing even though there are a couple categories with names containing that exact string.

Okay, here's everything I did:
Yesterday I added Genki I/II and removed JLPT lessons N5-N2 before clicking save. Today I tried to click on my kanji schedule again and it worked, I clicked add/remove lessons and changes I made yesterday were there.
For the sake of testing it out ;D I decided to add JLPT N5 & N4 kanji lessons. I selected all of them from JLPT dropdown list and clicked save. Everything was okay. So I went again to add/remove lessons and picked JLPT N5 and N4 lessons form the "already in schedule" dropdown list and deselected all of them, clicked save and again the same error appeared.
