Until I have the funds to buy a lifetime subscription for Renshuu, I would like to have a few free resources to listen to basic Japanese so I can improve my listening comprehension. I almost always find that the language is spoken incredibly fast and my brain kind of "lags" for a while

I have no issues with reading text, so subtitles may be useful for when I can't comprehend the speech fast enough to understand the general conversation.

Edit: Thank you for all the resources, everyone

immersionkit.com is a great place for sentence mining. For excerpts longer than a sentence, there are things like anime, podcasts, and NHK News.

There's a blog and podcast that I enjoy called Sayuri Saying. The host covers everyday topics and has guests over regularly so you can hear both polite and casual speech about a variety of topics. I highly recommend it.
