I have multiple schedules which contain the same words, is there a method to remove these "double" words automatically and let them stay just in one schedule? Doing it manually would take a lot of time. I know it doesn't really matter if words double themselves in schedules but I does bother me, and my workload seems a lot more than it actually is because of those doubling words.
In the Japanese Index under Tools in the menu, you can populate it with both schedules and set "Terms to use" to "In all sets" to find all of the shared terms. Once you have the list, select the schedule you want to remove them from in the Actions bar and press "Remove terms".
As a side note, I've noticed that when I have terms in more than one schedule and they are set for review in both schedules, they will disappear from review in the second schedule when I review them in the first. So it doesn't actually add to my review workload.
For instance, there is a lot of overlap in my The Basic 300 and Beginner Sentences (N5) sentence schedules. When I start my review for the day, both will have 30 terms to review (that's what I have set for max terms). When I finish reviewing Basic 300, Beginner will then show less than 30 to review because the ones I did in Basic 300 are unmarked as ready to review.
If there are additional terms to review in the second schedule, they will get bumped into the review in place of the ones you just quizzed on, but if there's not enough to fill your max terms, you'll see fewer to be reviewed, if that makes sense. However, if there are multiple vectors to study for the terms, they may still appear in the other schedule for review. For instance, you get quizzed on definition for a vocabulary word in Japanese Basics, then get quizzed on writing for the same word in Beginner Japanese (N5). Those duplicate terms will gain mastery faster since you're covering more vectors in a single day. If they don't drop off the review for the second schedule.
I'm not big on having the overlaps either, and have edited out some, but it can be overwhelming when you're eventually dealing with possibly 100 or more overlapping terms. Hopefully the method described above makes it quick to eliminate the duplicates. But rest assured, the duplicates will not necessarily add to your review workload (the exception is with vectors).
Sorry for the wordy explanations... I often have difficulty expressing myself. I hope you understand what I mean.
Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. I've also noticed term reviews "disappearing" when I completed them in one schedule, but they where also added to another.
I'll try the method noted above, thank you!
