Piece of advice from an amateur: Remember to keep the hair flowing from the head instead of slapping it on top. Don't make it look like a hat! A big part of making art fun to make AND fun to look at is the flow of the drawing, but I don't really know how to explain it very well.
I found some time and finished my baseline drawing! It’s only a coffee mug and I made it in like 5 minutes, but it shows what I can do as of right now.
This is a good start. One thing to keep in mind when shading is which direction the light is coming from. Usually, you pick one or more points in your sketch to be the “light source” and imagine the light rays emanating from there and casting shadows. The more pinpoint your light source, the sharper the shadow.
The first thing I will point out is you are doing to much line art, instead try shading the edges of shapes and not using lines. Try drawing it lightly and then shading over the lines so there's none
Yeah, I also noticed that. I tried going lighter than normal while drawing the basic shapes, but that still wasn’t enough to blend in with the shading when finishing up. That skill is still a work in progress!
