Here's a drawing I did of one of my characters, Minho. I used a new technique for the hair and skin, and I think it turned out ok

I highly recommend doing warm up exercises for a few minutes each time before you draw. 1) Because it's a few minutes more of training your muscle memory, and 2) your lines will ALWAYS be a lot wobblier when you first start drawing for the day (it took me several years to notice this, but it turns out it's A Thing); might as well get those wobbles out in some meaningless scribbles instead of struggling over a drawing more than you need to.

Some exercises:

1) Circles. Just. so many circles. big ones, little ones, circles within circles, interlinking circles.

2) Connect the dots. Draw two dots and connect them with one line as fast and as smoothly as you can. Keep spacing the dots farther apart.

3) Spirals! Squares! Triangles! Parallel lines! Like circles, but with variety.

4) Find a bunch of pose references (they can be random and from anywhere, you don't have to care about them) and sketch them out, 30-60 seconds per pose. This exercise pulls double duty in helping you learn what the most important lines are to convey shape and movement. And yes, 30 seconds is enough, this is supposed to look extremely half-assed and shitty- that's how you know you're doing it right.

Lastly: if wobbly lines are discouraging you from making art, I highly recommend using a brush that is NOT smooth. Yeah, the smoothness of the pen and inking brushes look really pretty in the previews, but they Will emphasis every little shift and wobble and tremor. One that has a little more texture to it (my favorite mimics a 6B pencil and has low pressure sensitivity) will hide the wobbles a lot better.

Feel free to ignore this if you didn't want advise/just wanted to vent. ESPECIALLY ignore any part if it makes you want to draw even less. Above anything else, having FUN is the most important part of art. I hope you can find enjoyment in it soon <3.

Love,

An occasional fellow victim of The Wobbles
