Forums - Lightbulb not working

I tried marking kanji as hidden - it works in the regard that they don't show up in the kanji quiz, but I noticed that while studying words, renshuu still assumes me to know those kanji.

So I tried marking them as unknown by turning off the lightbulb. It turns off, but when I tab out and click the same kanji, the lightbulb is on again.

I made some changes - I am a bit worried that they might have some unintended consequences, but it is looking better in limited testing.

To check, try toggling the kanji on and off (or vice versa) to "reset" it back into place.

Thank you so much for the quick reply!

Unfortunately I tried a few times and it's still the same and toggles itself back on right away...

It definitely was working for the specific cases I was working on, so if possible, I'd like to know which kanji you are toggling, and which word you are seeing it not being correctly adjusted in. Thanks!

I have 66 hidden kanji currently and tried probably not all, but most of these, all results were the same.

Here is a screencap video I made of it yesterday + screenshots of all my currently hidden kanji.

For some of these I don't learn related vocabulary so they don't pop up, but as far as I can tell, when I do, it expects me to know them.

Examples are: まる しい い す ける い い しい しい れる

And possibly more, but these are words and compounds where I am sure of it asked me to write a kanji I have hidden and been trying to turn off.

Some I don't mind so much since I roughly know them and only turned off because they have no priority for me to properly memorize rn, but once I don't know how to read or write one at all it disturbs studying, sadly.

Thanks again in advance, I hope the info helps!

I think I may see the issue.

"hidden" terms does not mean that you don't know them, it means that they will not appear in those quiz types. So with , for example, the *kanji* is hidden, so your kanji quizzes will not have it. Hiding is usually done to remove terms you know REALLY well, or ones that are part of a prepackaged list, but not ones that you are interested in studying on renshuu.

The lightbulb, though, is what says "I know (or don't know) this kanji, please adjust the vocabulary accordingly." So with , the lightbulb is turned on, so it will show up in terms (and in quizzes).

To help (just for now) make the known/unknown kanji more visible, I toggled the setting on in your account so that unknown kanji will appear in lists of vocab, but in grey (instead of white).

Ahh, I knew that hiding and the lightbulb are different things, but I did not know hiding was more for well known ones.

"or ones that are part of a prepackaged list, but not ones that you are interested in studying on renshuu." -> yes this was the reason I hid them!

So that means hiding and the lightbulb exclude each other & once I hide a kanji the lightbulb will not be able to be turned off?

Thats good to know. Words appear greyed out now! Thank you for your help!
