Today I turned 17 years old, and I was wondering if the song we all know "Happy birthday to you" has a Japanese version. My first language is French and the song is basically the same as english except the words are in french but the music and rythm is the same. Is it the same for Japanese or do they sing the whole song in katakana? (So like broken english kind of) Or perhaps do they have their own version?

Hmm, I was wondering the same thing actually! I asked my google home to sing happy birthday in Japanese one time, and it was a katakana English version like you said, but you can never be sure with google translate…

In my experience, it’s always Happy Birthday, but sung with a Japanese accent.

yes they do! I've actually heard it sung before! It's very nice (the boy who sung it had a very calm voice which made it very nice to listen too)
