I've been reading the Kao-chan Lessons, and I found interesting stuff but not anything that would be good for a song

I got some ideas for intro and outro!!

Intro:

かおちゃん (かおちゃん)

せかい じゃん

かおちゃん(かおちゃん)

Outro:

かおちゃん(かおちゃん)

どこにいるの?

かおちゃん(かおちゃん)

おっ!まぁ べちゃった

(しまった/おいしかった)

Is it good? I'm not satisfied with it yet...

(The text inside the () is sung with a quiet voice.)

I think its good! even if it won't be the final product, it's always good to start

I can't believe you ate Kao...

aren't lyrics inside () usually kind of overlapping with the lyrics before? Do you want that, or do you only want it to be quieter?

Oh! I didn't know that it's for overlapping. I just wanted that part to be quieter.

ぼく たちの のうに

あらたな いのちを いきづく もの

ぼく たちの せいちょうを

たすけてくれる もの!

Yeah I did. I just looked up a few words in the dictionary and I put it once into Google translate to see if I got the structure right.

Oh don't overestimate me. I still make many many mistakes. And don't worry! I think I started learning Japanese one year before you. I'm sure you are already good too.

Hm, well I still don't know N4 grammar even though I've been learning grammar for like a year it's not very good. But I have a question about your lyrics, what does the じゃん at the end of that line mean? Also what is ちゃった? Sorry if that's a silly question but like I said I barely know N5 grammar

Dont worry, it's not a silly question at all!! I will explain it as good as I can! You should write down my explanation in a notebook so you can review it anytime.

Firstly じゃん:

じゃん is the short form of じゃない but in this case it's not a negation. This じゃない is used when:

- something turns out to be different from what you have expected

- expressing emotion (happy, surprise, disappointed)

You simply add it to the end of the sentence

As for the intonation: Starts high and goes slowly down.

Some example sentences:

あら、さんじゃない!どうしたの?このとこで。

Oh Tanaka! What are you doing here?

→ Didn't expect to meet Tanaka here

うわ!?これダイソンの掃除機 じゃない!しかったんだ!

Wow! It's a Daison vacuum cleaner! I wanted it!

→ Happy about it

なに、これ?なんだ、マグカップじゃない。

Whats this? Oh, a mug.

→ disappointed about it

あ、もう6じゃん。

Ah, it's already 6 o'clock.

→ Maybe thought that it wasn't so late yet

I have these examples from Kaname Naitos video about all the usages of じゃない. I recommend you to watch them! And also Misa's video. Here are the links: Kaname Naito, Japanese Ammo with Misa

Now ちゃった:

ちゃった is the past form of ちゃう. ちゃう is the informal form of ~てしまう.

Usage:

- When you want to just get something behind you

This usage can also be used with the ~よう (imperative) form to express "Let's get it behind us/Let's just do it!"

- Finish something so it doesn't bother you

- Something bad will haben

- Something Bad had happened

- You did something bad and you are sorry

Conjugations since these suffixes are also simply verbs:

~ちゃう、ちゃった、ちゃおう etc. Most informal

~てしまう、てしまった、てしまおう etc.

~てしまいます、てしまいました、てしまいましょう etc. Most formal

Ichidan: べる → べ + ちゃう

Godan: う → って → っちゃう

If the て form is with で then じゃう instead of ちゃう

べてしまう

べてしまいます

etc. Just put the verb into the て form and remove the て and add these.

Example sentences:

よし、けてしまおう。

Okay let's clean up the room.

→ Just do it so you don't have to do it later/let's get it behind us

っちゃおう!!

Screw it, let's just buy everything! >:)

このサラダしてもてるだけだからさあ、べちゃって。

If you leave this salad you will just throw it away, so eat all of it.

→ finish something so it doesn't bother us

がないと、れちゃうよ。

If we don't hurry we will be late for our plane.

→ Something bad will happen

Again Kaname Naito and Japanese Ammo with Misa if you want a little bit more detail and more example sentences. (Basically I just summed up everything important)

IM SO SORRY THAT THIS IS SO LOOOOONGG!!??!!

Also, Row, if you need help with studying grammar, don't hesitate to message me.

If it's too much above your knowledge, you should continue with more basic things, and the farer you get, the better you will understand more difficult things. Just by watching some grammar videos in japanese, I was able to grasp how というのは and というふうに works. That's also a good way to learn grammar I think.

Do you have trouble memorizing or learning grammar?

Yeah... I kind of got off to a bad start with it from using a different app and I've kind of been trying to relearn the basics while also learning new stuff and I kind of just quit learning new grammar from my grammar schedule for the time being I will again someday. I've been participating in the book club to get some practice.
