I've just started my japanese learning journey about 10 days ago, and out of all the learning strategies I've tested so far, renshuu was the one I've learned on the most while being the most fun to do as well.
I don't have a lot of money, specially to spend on hobbies, so I'd like to see what's your opinion on renshuu pro, is it a game-changer? or just something extra that helps out a bit?
In my opinion it CAN really be worth it, but first you should try the free trial of renshuu pro to see if it would be worth ist for YOU. I’ve used renshuu for over a year and you absolutely do NOT need the pro version, I also would like to give a bit of money to マイコー, but I actually don’t think that anything is needed for your Japanese learning journey. This app is great even in the free version, there are no time traps (like hearts in duolingo) or anything alike, just try renshuu for the next while and chill a bit while getting accustomed to the app. Don’t forget to just have fun!! You don’t need money to learn Japanese.
I think the listening questions (that are only available under Renshuu Pro) for vocabulary, and especially sentences are a game changer. They really help in building listening skills.
Renshuu pro is a bargain. You could easily pay ten times as much for less elsewhere. But there’s no way to buy language proficiency. You still have to put in the work. If your budget is tight, I’d advise you to use free renshuu as hard as you can for a few months, then try a free trial, and then decide.
It depends on why you want to learn Japanese and how serious you are about it. If you want to dabble in Japanese, Free version is enough. If you wish to master Japanese, Pro subscription and media immersion will be necessary, along with a human guide (tutor or friend).
Pro subscription goes on sale during certain times in the year and if you're tight on cash, I'd suggest to continue on Free for now and purchase the Pro during the sale. Happy learning!
Renshuu Pro is worth it definitely, but basically all of the pro features are just quality-of-life things and things that help you study more in-depth and efficiently. You can learn the same amount to the same level of mastery with the free version, Pro is mostly just bonus features and knowing you're supporting a great resource.
Given that, if you've only been using Renshuu for a couple weeks, I would wait. Get yourself comfortable with the app and with a study routine first, to better understand what features you actually use and need and what helps you learn. You will get a free trial of Pro in your inbox after you've studied for a little while (if you haven't already), so once you're settled in and have time to dedicate to exploring the new features, you can activate it and see for yourself how helpful it is to you.
