I’ve been looking for anime on Netflix to watch and practice my listening with. But any time I feel like I’ve found something good, it always gets way too violent or just really inappropriate. It’s gotten to the point where I’ve just given up on anime and now I’m just watching Star Wars in Japanese, which is great but I’d really like something that’s originally in Japanese to practice listening with that isn’t over the top gore or really inappropriate and gross. Any suggestions? 🥲
Corpse Party is a great “family friendly” anime, as the name clearly implies.
In all seriousness, I recommend Nichijou, if you haven’t seen it already. I don’t know what your general 日本語 level is, so I’m just throwing out a random recommendation. (Don’t know if it’s on Netflix, though.)
Have you tried Cardcaptor Sakura? It was on Netflix last time I checked. I used to watch it growing up and it was interesting to watch it again in Japanese.
You can watch Yu Yu Hakusho and Kuroko no Basket, both are on Netflix. I think they are pretty good animes for listening practice. In Kuroko no basket, there are no violent scenes since it's rated 13+, and same goes for Yu Yu Hakusho. I watched the first one, and I'm currently watching Yu Yu Hakusho. If you like action series with a bit of fiction it's definitely something for you. I hope this was helpful, bye!
I finished Romantic Killer some days ago and it's a funny comedy anime about a girl living in a kind of dating simulator. The plot is really interesting and I think many people can relate to the main character. Watch this if you like comedy!:)
I second Card Captor Sakura and Studio Ghibli films. I’m not sure what age range you’re in, but I think a fair amount of shoujo anime is not usually very gory or inappropriate. I’m assuming by “inappropriate” you mean something that has too much “fan service” or something like that. You could also try some “slice of life” comedy type anime like Aggretsuko.
