Hello!

Is there a way to set up renshuu to only focus on word assimilation?

Using the normal lesson layout I have to progress through grammar to unlock the next set, which I’m not interested in learning in that way.

My preference would be no kanji with only hiragana/katakana or spoken words. Either individual word study or underlined words is preferred.

This all may seem strange :D - my goal is listening/speaking and not reading, and I’m attempting to learn grammar by osmosis once my vocabulary is large enough.

I know I can do this through Anki but I LOVE renshuu’s easy dictionary and community mnemonics!

yes, you can use it that way if you want. You need to setup your own schedules to add whatever word sets you want to study and then setup the study vectors to only focus on listening and meaning->kana [and maybe kana->meaning?].

You can setup schedules at Schedules->gear symbol->All Schedules->Make my own

after you setup the schedule, you can open up the options of that schedule -> more settings and then select which study vectors you want covered in that schedule:

I remember having goals like that myself once. なつかしい

If and when your goals change, you can come back and change your schedules to match. Renshuu’s designed to let you study what you want and in whatever order you want.

All of the same word lists used to create the pre-made schedule path can be found in the menu under Community Lists → Made by Renshuu (or you can search for anything else that interests you if you don't care about the JLPT-based lists). After you make your own empty schedule using SirEdgar's instructions, just add any list you want to it from Community Lists, or you can make your own.
