does anyone know trustworthy sources related to japan early civilizations and archaeology? i was reading about the sendoki period and i noticed some disparity between what i was finding. it started with reading about Japanese Paleolithic graves was accompanied by pigs (adults) and piglets (children) i thought if it was similar to how human and dog relationships in other parts of the world is viewed of best friends and i searched about it and i couldnt find much about. next i find out about a japanese amateur archaeologist who claimed to have found objects from the era and when searching in other places i found out it was forgeries. i too found out about many things from the era being buried under the sea but we have LIDAR nowadays so maybe im looking in the wrong places and maybe out-of-date to read or is archaeology not active field in Japan?

Youre likely referring to the scandal with Fujimura Shinichi, an amateur archaeologist who claimed to have found Paleolithic tools dating back hundreds of thousands of years. In 2000 he was exposed for planting artifacts, which severely damaged trust and caused a reevaluation of early dates in Japanese archaeology. Hmm how about :
1. Ancient Jomon of Japan
2. Japan Emerging : Premodern History to 1850
3. An archaeological History of Japan: 30000 Bc to Ad 700
4. Journal of East Asian Archaeology
5. Asian Perspectives
Also tips for further research : Search using Japanese terms like , , for more indepth sources.
Hope its helpful even though the some data is from Web kao_sorry.pngkao_yoroshiku.png
