About the introduction go to
in advance I would say that you should first start by doing hiragana and katakana.
And when you start doing hiragana and katakana, I personally would suggest you to start doing 3-5 terms per day. So as not to try to overwhelm yourself. You know what they say is true " slow and steady wins the race." Don't give up even if your stuck
Personally, I would recommend turning on this setting when you're a beginner
I didn't have it on and not having it makes it so you can't do your daily reviews without learning new terms, and if you aren't careful that can make it so you have a huge build up of terms.

hi, where can I find that?
The above point about limiting new terms is pretty valuable.
I think most of the main schedules default to "custom" Pace, which is unlimited new daily terms, with 6 new terms per quiz and 40 reviews.
Setting a limit on New Terms per Daily to whatever your comfortable with usually 10-20 max, is a good idea.
I actually like my new terms first when I'm fresh, and it mixes them into reviews so you get a better challenge.
Also for above I think hit "Settings" then "More Settings" on any mastery schedule
Three little buttons let you quick change the pacing for that schedule, if you need to just do a review day or quickly set a limit, or modify the custom limits.

I do this so that you don't have to learn new terms if you don't want to but you can still do reviews, otherwise you have to do new terms everyday if you want to review the old ones.
And yes, just go into the settings on your schedule
