I had a recent problem so far that reminded me of a recurring issue I have regarding the length of reviews. It appears that when particular schedules that have a small list for conjugation work, say - 3 expressions for adjectives (there's an inherent limitation to that), I can only get one of each type and that would be the end of the schedule. The minimum length of the quiz I set in custom settings doesn't matter as it makes no difference. It's always that number of expressions, quizzed once each time. It's not like there's a limitation of vocabulary being used for it. I find this very strange.
I recently initially came across the same problem for a grammar schedule I made that also had 3 expressions, but I found out I was able to get the length I wanted because there was a unique setting for grammar. It was exactly what I wanted, but this isn't built for conjugation schedules, it seems. Inherently, I would've thought the reviews by default would natually populate any expression within the schedule regardless of the number of them, regardless of the length of the reviews. Apparently that needed to be a setting for grammar, but not for conjugation.
So is there any way I can try to get the length I want for conjugation without adding material, other than merging it to another schedule, or shall I have to put up with this forever? It seems that no matter how I toy with the settings, the problem persists.
I'm a bit scatterbrained at the moment, and I do not expect to be able to respond to this immediately, but if you can give me a few specific examples of what's going on, it'll help me to look into it.
I think it would be helpful to post the same screenshots for the other schedule, so we can easily see the difference.

The other schedule gives me 10 questions that I set, for the 3 things in the schedule as I described. There is a setting for it that only appears for that type of schedule. That's the difference.
Welp, the grammar schedule doesn't seem to be consistent now either.
I created a new schedule, but with 2 items in it. I set it to populate 10 questions all the same but it instead gives me 9. Weirdly, without using the option that gives me the "longer" quiz, it creates 3 questions.
So it seems there's still a weird limit that ignores how long you set a quiz to review if it has a small set of topics. It was negligible when I had a bulk of schedules with at least a dozen so that 10 questions or fewer could be populated. But now it seems bite-sized lessons wouldn't give me enough practice at once. I'd have to use it several times over or try to consolidate them into another schedule. Good grief!
I'll be honest - I must be missing something, as I do not see how what you're describing is possible.
So, for the grammar quizzes, in the main settings panel, you have this:
If this is checked, every expression will have up to 3 questions for it in a single quiz. Without it, it's one question per quiz.
with the Focused Reviews, those quiz sizes are not something that can grow beyond what is already in there, in the sense that if you have (for example) a 5 word schedule, you cannot make it generate 10 questions for you: it'll never be more than 5. In most situations, that number is used to trim *down* the number of questions from a much larger set of terms (100s of words, kanji, etc.)
So based on whether or not that option is checked, I could see a 2 term schedule giving up to six questions (but not necessarily), and a 3 term schedule going up to 9.
That aside, I do appreciate your patience while I was in the hospital

Well, that is one of the issues. One of these types of schedules is up to the 3 questions per item, but another does give me 10. The latter also ends up filling in with other types of items not in the schedule. Not that I mind the extra practice. It just sometimes would take away my focus. Yet, this would be odd because the same number of items on the other type of schedule would only give me only the items in that schedule, up to 3 questions each. Nothing mixed in. The only way I can use only the material per schedule is to have at least 4 items and the issue goes away.
This is rough because while it's really effective having schedules grouped by topic to practice on it, often in the free tier there's at least one particular item to use, nothing more. I've had to sort of match some topics elsewhere that are close enough to work with just to have more to make it usable to have a quiz as long as 10 questions. I used to have it at 5, but eventually it became more comfortable to do 10, and I've noticed this increases the chance that it'll be less than 10 questions anyway just to cover the material.
If you're getting things outside of the schedule, then try checking your schedule settings to see if any of the sliders in there are turned on to add extra stuff. I bet something is turned on in there.
