Gardens, Question Corner, and Haiku seem to instantly update server-side so you can't 'unlike' once you've liked.
Forums 'lock in' (push to server) once the page updates. For some reason likes don't get pushed to the server instantly so you can 'change your mind' as long as you don't refresh the page or update it in any way.
