One of the options in Study Quests is number of correct questions in a row for each of the following four categories: Vocabulary, Kanji, Grammar and Sentences. I would have liked a version where a streak is still rewarded, but one where it would be possible to add smaller streak chunks to an already existing streak and that the existing streak would never reset to zero, only drop back to the previous achieved combined streak level. For example, once a streak of 500 has been achieved, before continuing on, be given a choice how long the next additional streak would be, say x points for an added streak of 100, y points for an added streak of 200, z points for an added streak of 500. If I would choose x and manage to do a streak of 100, I would get my x points where the new total streak would become 600. If I would only manage to do 72 questions correct in a row, the streak would be dropped back to the previously attained level, in this case 500, and not 0. Each time a sub goal has been achieved and the points added to the accumulated total, the choice would be offered again how long the next sub streak should be.
I like the idea of the challenge of maintaining a streak but it gets too rigorous to try to rebuild it after a drop back to zero after a long streak.
I like this idea! Also to add to it, I currently have “order quests by how close they are to finishing” checked - but my streak quests are still near the top even though I lost the streak. For example, I have 194/200 grammar questions in a row on the quest but my current streak is 33 - so I’m not actually that close to finishing. It’s a very small thing but I’d like it better if the quest went down to the bottom again til I build my streak back up.
I appreciate the comments! Streaks are not for everyone, but at the moment, I do not plan on changing what the streak is in renshuu. What you're describing would be a different system altogether, and not one that a lot of people would consider to be maintaining a streak.
All quests can be disabled individually, as I completely understand that many do not want the pressure of maintaining a streak like that.
