So is it Ichi ni san shi go or Ichi ni san yon go?

So, I found the same question on a few platforms, and the general consensus among native speakers seems to be this:

When saying numbers from 1 to 10 continuously
"Ichi, Ni, San, Shi, Go, Roku, Shichi, Hachi, Kyu, Ju"

When counting backwards from 10 to 1
"Ju, Kyu, Hachi, Nana, Roku, Go, Yon, San, Ni, Ichi"

Might be a regional thing, or just what feels best to most Japanese people. I wouldn't worry about it.

i asked my japanese native friend about this a while back, and the answer was essentially "whichever". neither is wrong, for よん/し or なな/しち, and people will understand you regardless. so don't worry about it :D

It‘s a matter of speed as well. If I‘m counting to 10 really fast, I stumble upon よん and なな. On the way down from 10, it‘s the other way round. しち doesn‘t fit well with the flow… It depends on the sound of the next/previous number.

Maybe I‘m not alone with that and that‘s even the reason for the difference mentioned by ギョルギ九十三…

I don't know a lot of Japanese musicians, but I really like Joe Hisaishi (that's an understatement) and I listen to some of Kenshi Yonezu's songs!
