In Japanese do we write up to down, left to right or nah?

When writing horizontally, left to right then top to bottom, same as English.

When writing vertically, it's top to bottom then right to left.

You'll see both used in different places.

Which one is correct? Are both of them used or…?

Traditional writing is vertical, top to bottom, right to left. Most writing created with computers is horizontal, left to right. In the bookstore, you’ll see two kinds of books, those where you turn the page from left to right, usually reserved for fiction or essays, and western style, which are like the books you are familiar with, where you turn the page from right to left.

In pre-war Japanese, it was common for horizontal writing to be right to left as well. This always gives me a headache whenever I try to read it.

Okay. Got it. So westerny is normal, while in mangas or old Japanese it’s top bottom right left.

Manga is usually vertical, but I've seen some that are horizontal. Whatever fits the layout of the page and speech bubbles.
