There's a multicultural day going on in my school, and I would like to help with presenting Japan. The problem is that I'm a foreigner with no Japanese heritage and I'm scared that I'm going to look like a loser otaku, or like that image of a white guy wearing a yukata (I hope you know what I'm referencing.) What could I do? Should I forget about it? 
How is not having Japanese roots an issue? Is having a direct connection to the culture you're presenting a requirement? How you're going to look depends entirely on your presentation. As long as you present the culture respectfully, without making it about yourself, you shouldn't have any issues.
The only time "roots" matter is when it's specifically framed as "share your heritage".
Just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly, is this about you presenting or you helping with a group presentation? Are any natives involved? Are they looking for help? I'm asking because you said "I would like to help with presenting Japan", and I'm not sure exactly what that means.
Sorry, as an Eastern European I'm not super familiar with the concept of a "multicultural day" 
PS: You can totally weave in some pop culture, just don't make it the main focus.

But yes, those are indeed valid worries you have. Maybe to avoid seeming like an otaku, you could make sure a lot more historical Japanese elements are included in whatever you do? It doesn't need to be a yukata, but you could still try fitting in stuff related to samurai or (the actual historical kind of) ninja. In addition, the Japanese language itself might be a good focus point.
I myself am not great with ideas, but hopefully this helps you come up with some more unique things yourself! 頑張って！
Go for it!!! Hella of an opportunity 
Try to present mostly foods and fun facts about Japan because in my opinion thats what attracts people I think. I would present for anime, but again they would think of a weeb lol.
Just spit some Japanese on their face because I don't think they would understand. Say like おいこら、なんだよばかやろう (nah im joking).
Try to fit in some songs (hatsune miku would not be preferred here even though shes the best as I think, go for ado or like city jpop songs)
Also yess, try to present some drift cars 🔥, this would definitely attract males (as a boy 150%) . ex : Nissan silva, Mazda rx7, Nissan 350Z, toyota supra. (You can watch the Fast and furious series or initial D to know about it more).
