Hi! I've recently discovered henohenomoheji and how old it is, and wondered if there're other Japanese emoji like it. Maybe some kana cartoons in ancient texts or just things students write while bored kao_dead.png It does seem like Japanese media uses more diverse emojis in general, I think.

What the...
Why did I only discovered that now? Well, I saw it a few times but I didn't thought there was a name for that.
Could be a fun drawing to do when learning kana.
Also found a few others

On the wayback machine tho, the site is down. The link was in the japanese wiki

There was that one too with katakana

Useful to remember/practice the difference between the katakana and hiragana version of へ for the people that like to draw.
Thanks for sharing your discovery! =p

I laughed when I saw this post because I did this unironically not knowing it was an actual thing and yes it did help me memorize hiragana and katakana!

@Shamugan

Wow, I think I've seen that website before! A long time ago, probably through some anime forums. The design looks very familar...

Curious how something you've seen somewhere and forgotten can suddenly aquire a new meaning. The joy of learning, truly kao_heart.png

Thanks for sharing as well!

Yes, it's a very fun way to practice kana! And you can play with it in so many ways, too. Glad it helped on your journey kao_hug.png
