掲示板 Forums - Mastery drop not working with quick and simple?

All my schedules are set to quick and simple.
I have mastery drop set to 3 on each mistake.
What I noticed though is that on a wrong answer only "Overall" drops by 3 levels, while Mastery either doesn't drop or drops only by 1.
And when requizzing both Overall and Mastery get +1 but counting from Mastery level.
So both end up at same as before the quiz, instead of expected -2.
Can you please check? Or am i doing something wrong?
Thanks for the review. What I'd like for you to do is this:
1. Next time it does not drop as expected, tap the ? button at the top, and send in a quiz report. You do not need to do that for *all* of them, just 2-3.
2. You can respond here letting me know you've done that, as I see forum replies more easily than than quiz reports (which I tend to do in batches)
Also, are you currently using the holiday system for the schedules?
Done, reported 3 cases.
The holiday system i think i marked some days as holidays, although can't seem to find the setting now.
Thanks. Ok, I can see things a bit more clearly now. So, what you're saying is that the overall percentage is dropping to 0, but the mastery circle is 25%. It looks like it was originally level 6 (internally), then dropped to level 3. That is 25%. However, the 0% is throwing you off.

Ok, so I know what is happening, but I do not know (yet) how to solve it.
In this particular instance, you have a term with two vectors in the schedule (kana > meaning, and meaning > kana).
Before the question, kana > meaning was level 6, but you had not yet studied meaning > kana (level 1). You got a meaning > kana question.
You got it wrong. It looked, and said "ok, drop everything by 3". Kana > meaning goes to 3, meaning > kana remains at 1. (due to the simple setting)
Now, the issue is here. Mastery (the circle) is giving you the highest vector available from the group (which usually works, as once you've been using quick and simple for awhile, all the vectors line up). However, the Overall is using the current vector (meaning > kana) that was quizzed. Again, in typical usage, the vectors all line up, so this is a non issue.
So the question is ..which to show. Given 2 or more vectors, and the vectors still have different mastery levels, what numbers should be shown?
Hey, thanks for checking.
Actually I just sent another report. I think there's something wrong with the "ok, drop everything by 3" part.
The one I just sent dropped to 38/0 while before it was 50/50 (checked just before answering, screen below).
And If I answer it correctly in when requizzing it's going to go up to 50/50 again.
For me Mastery showing the highest value is pefrectly fine, using quick and simple I expect everything to be equal after some time anyway. It's just I think it's not dropping everything by 3 as expected.
Any chance anything can be done about this? Or maybe there's a workaround?
Basically, I don't mind the "overall" number, because I don't think it affects anything in "quick and simple" (?)
But I think mastery is always dropping by just one level instead of 3 and it affects my intended repetition spacing.
I'm so sorry about this - I was on a family trip, and I was not able to respond to your previous messages before the trip started. Back now, though!
I am not done looking into this, but I did check out the report you sent in (thank you!). I can confidently say that the level IS being marked down correctly - it's completely a visual issue. The term was 数える, the vector was definition > kana. It was originally level 5, and after the question, it was marked down to 2.
All good. Thanks for still looking into this!
And thank you for fixing the issue with overall! Although the bigger problem for me was that "mastery" did not go down 3 levels.
Like in 数える example. Mastery goes down to 38 (level 4) from 50 (level 5) while it should go down to 2 like definition > kana. Right?
You mentioned earlier that overall is calculated from highest vector. Is it possible that the other vector (kana -> definition) didn't go down by 3 but just by 1?
So definition kana goes to 2 (correctly) but kana definition goes to 4 (incorrectly?) and then after requizzing (here i'm just guessing) they both go up to mastery (4) + 1 which is 5.
Is that possible?
In the 数える example. I made sure to check mastery (not vectors but just mastery) before and after answerring and requizzing and i'm sure it went 5 -> 4 -> 5.
Ah, okay, that clears it up then. Thanks for explaining how it works.
In that case, I’d say the “drop by X levels” setting probably doesn’t make much sense for Quick and Simple, since everything in that mode is ultimately based on mastery and aligns to mastery.
I completely understand that changing this isn’t a high priority right now, though. Thanks again for taking the time to look into it!
Yea - I agree - at some point, some clarification on how it works in that edge-case would be good.
That being said, once the mastery levels do align (as they naturally will after some point), the issue will disappear.
