I've been learning Japanese consistently throughout 2 months. Roughly, I think I could recognize 200 words due to Renshuu's help, but, I'm quite stunted on learning all these words.
The Japanese Words Basics schedule has over 400 words. I'm only halfway through and close to being burnt out. Even learning 12 words every few days/a week is a bit much for me now, so, I would please want some suggestions on how to make vocab learning fun.
As I learned vocab, I've been learning grammar. I even considered starting the Renshuu kanji schedule.
Should I continue with the grammar or kanji schedule? Or maybe more external methods like watching Japanese simple stories/ kids shows? Any other suggestions to effective vocabulary learning would be appreciated, even if the suggestion is on Renshuu.
If you are on the verge of burnout with your daily vocabulary routine, why not decrease your word count from 12 to, let's say, 3 to 5?
Learning is a marathon, not a sprint.
You need to be as consistent as possible, so there is no need to overwhelm yourself every day. It should be a fun activity rather than a second job.
P.S. Just do what you enjoy. It doesn't matter what other people recommend. Just because learning kanji every day works for me, it doesn't guarantee you'll enjoy doing the same thing.
This does feel like a perspective problem to me, it's a fun daily quizz that slowly makes you better at Japanese so there should be no way to fail or burn out, unless you have unrealistic expectations on speed, don't enjoy the process or took too many new terms at once :)
I am 6 months in and I think as much variety as you can is good to keep engaged, it was very motivating to start watching beginner videos.
Earlier threads here have been super useful in finding more things to do, but my favorites are nijapanese (have free videos) and wanikani (free for first 4 levels, then you can use that learning method at renshuu).
