(At the end of the day, the strategy is still to answer as many questions correctly as possible. However...)
If you've checked out JLPT statistics or taken the JLPT before, you mightve noticed that the Score/Percentile distribution is super weird. For example, if you've ever taken the JLPT and recieved the score breakdown I encourage you to check this: There is a section on that sheet that will tell you which range of correct answers you fall into (0-33%, 33-66%, 66%+). I strongly suspect 66%+ or higher is effectively required to pass the JLPT because of their scaled scoring. However, unless I'm missing something, how well you are going to do, even if you knew for certain every answer you got correct and incorrect, would be quite difficult to predict.
Obviously this doesn't change the strategy, as mentioned earlier. However... If you are taking the practice exams, such as the ones they provide, you would not be able to assess if you were "ready" to take the JLPT based on the results of those tests. I'd love to know if there is some sort of way to tell if I were "ready" in a less blurry way.
