i was studying vocabulary using the "words for pre-intermediate" schedule and i realized that there are a lot less pitch accent notation than usual, and i remember looking at the "usage notes" of one word and seeing someone explain the pitch accent of the word being "up then down" when the word on the flashcard had no pitch accent labeled, and i was unsure if the word was supposed to be flat or if renshuu doesn't have pitch accent on some words? does anybody know because im not really sure, and i dont want to make any assumptions

Pitch accents are supplied by renshuu only for a limited number of words. Instead of taking the accents from a copyrighted source, Michael commissioned his own survey of native speakers.

Words don't always have only one pitch accent too. On top of that, dialects use different pitch accent too. And except for people born and raised in Tokyo, there isn't a single Japanese which isn't influenced by their dialect. And even Tokyoites are influenced by dialect through the internet.

So, basically, don't worry. Basic words are sufficiently well-documented and you will hear them so often that it will "normalize" your pronounciation anyway. As for others, well, it's part of the fun of reaching fluency to question each other pitch accents. Natives do it all the time between themselves. Advanced learners also often question natives and even correct them more often than what most think :D
For those that reach good enough level at least (for ex, living in Japan or talking to natives online regularly).

TLDR: High-level is not that clean and be it natives or advanced learners, their pitch accent knowledge is more messy than you think. You will see that often on youtube later. And once you start to talk to natives, you will hear that kind of conversation quite often :D. So don't worry and just study what you can :3
