Are you talking about the ones that go all the way into the ear and form a seal with the ear canal? If so, I highly recommend Shure. They range in price from the cheapest, which is about a man, to 4 or 5 man. They take some time to get used to, but once you figure out how best to use them (it's harder than it sounds), they sound faaaaantastic. I have the cheapest set, and they still sound very good. Check em out at yodobashi.

I bought a pair from Panasonic for around 4,000yen. I dont know if they have the same range as the more expensive ones but they're good enough for me. (As in they don't fall out when I'm snowboarding!)

haven't done any real comparisons, no. And yea, I have the e2c's. there's like a gaming line from shure, but I just ignore those; and in the main line of ear-canal phones, the e2c's are at the bottom (yet, as I noted, still quite quite nice). 2 year warranty - I'm pretty sure I somehow treat mine like crap, and break them, but yodobashi gets them replaced with new units.
