「A より、B のほうは ...」 means B is more ... than A. It is currently the other way around in the description.

it might be beneficial to have something after the が in the construction to show where the comparison goes
What would be the difference between this form and the other より form?
春 は冬 よりあたたかいです。
高 いよりやすい方 がいいです。
Is it that perhaps the second usage refers to general comparison, while the first is more specific?
exactly like you said: the latter is more specific. Also, the former is much more commonly used than the latter, at least in my area ;)
I've seen some examples where the format is like this ほうが~より. 車 で行 くほうがバスで行 くより安 い・安 いです。
According to A dictionary of basic Japanese grammar , the C component doesn't have to be just an adjective, it can be any predicate. As in,
私 のほうが上 田 さんよりよく食 べる。
You're right - it was too restrictive. I substituted it out for a more general term. Thanks!
