Followed by a statement which is different from expectations. Ex: A is a good thing, but bad results follow. A and B are the same verb/noun/adjective.

this pattern doesn't need to be a positive statement followed by a negative - for example; 便 せんがなかったらないで、コピー用 紙 でも構 いません。 If there's no letter-writing paper available, photocopy paper will do.
Good catch, I've updated the definition.
The third example under the construction section has a typo.
安 かったり安 いで (being cheap is good, but...)
should be
安 かったら安 いで (being cheap is good, but...)
I don't know if this is the right place for this grammar construct, but 新 完 全 マスター文 法 N1 groups ば~で with these patterns. As in:
家 は広 い方 がいいが、広 ければ 広 いで 、掃 除 が大 変 だろう。
The bigger the house, the better, but the bigger the house, the harder it is to clean.
That might need to come under a separate grammar entry - I am actually about to start on quiz generation for a huge chunk of N1 expressions, so I'd like to hold off on additional entries until that gets finished :)
