a)Can you give an example, and b)where are you getting this from? I checked my lovely new grammar dictionary (I LOVE IT), and didn't see any reference to dropping it.

examples for you - いのなんのといって,ほっぺたがちるくらいだ and いのなんの,なかった。 I got this from my , an older Canon Wordtank (the V80) which has been my stalwort compantion for 6 years now ^.‾ The main entry is actually for なんの - it says (the explanation's in Japanese only here) [「なに」に「の」のいたものから

1してげるのにいる。「なんのと」のいることがく,「など」のい。「おいただなんのとばかりっている」「まだているなんのとっててこない」2(「...のなんの」ので)だしいことをす。(then the two examples above)

Shouldn't the construction for な-adjectives also include a の between the な/だった and なんのって?
