Umm..I don't know if it's a right section...but..Why are some of the kanji readings in normal(blakc) font color and some in gray colour? Are these gray readings less important or something?
I used to learn kanji on a different site but there there hasn't been any distingshon of this sort....

Readings are black if you have learned a vocabulary word that uses that reading. They are grey if you have not yet learned a word containing this reading.
At least that's the idea anyway...it doesn't always hold true for me but for the most part it's accurate enough.
That is half of the reason. A reading is marked as black if:
a)you have studied it before, and/or
b)it is considered a necessary reading (for whatever resources you happen to be studying). If you are looking in the dictionary, it will be any reading that is typically learned in the first 12 years of schooling in Japan.
Thank you very much.
I have one more question. I'm sorry, I'm a little clueless and I don't want to make a separte topic just for that..but aren't the JLPT quizzes lessons missing some kanji? From the other site where I used to learn japanese I remeber that there were 103 kanjii required for JLPT 5 and over 300 for JLPT 4, etc, etc. However, here I see only 79 kanjii for JLPT 5(divided in 8 lessonns), 166 kanji for JLPT 4(divided in 17 lessons), etc etc. Which is significantly lower. Furthermore, as I read these lessons I notice that some of the kanjii that I thought belonged in level 5 appear in lessons from level 4. Am I missing something?
No problem - ask away!
The difference comes from the fact that there are no official lists for kanji, vocab, or grammar for the new JLPT test (that started a few years ago). Because of that, most resources are going to vary someone in what they think belongs in each level.
