Hey,
I've been a member of renshuu for over an year now, I have to say that this is the best website for learning japanese on the internet. I particularly like its grammar section, it is unmatched considering how intricate and detailed it is. I would like see an android app for the website providing access to its database on grammar, vocabulary, kanji index etc. I wouldn't even mind paying for it.
Regards,
I'm thrilled that you like the site so much! Unfortunately, mobile apps are simply not in the cards right now. As many of you know, it is a one-person company, and building stand-alone apps is simply not feasible. One might suggest making apps that connect to the internet, but I would much rather focus on making the mobile version of the site much more versatile and solid. As it is, the beta version of the site has a much, *much* improved version of the site that has 99% of the content and accessibility that the desktop/pc version offers.
Won't it be possible to find a app third party developer? I'm sure some member might be capable of doing the job. There's already an android app called obenkyou that is having all kanji, vocabulary list, numbers, kana and a grammar tab (grammar is in beta though) but I'm sure you guys can out do them.
The data is rather simple - the engine for studying, kanji history, schedules, etc are extremely complex, and would take a lot of work to manage. I would prefer to only work on/manage a single implementation than either doing it myself or having a third-party developer handle it. It is not ideal, but it is what I am comfortable with as far as time commitments, etc are concerned.
I was doing the Kanji exercises on my phone the other day. I found it pretty difficult to drag and match the readings boxes to the Kanji. Would it be possible to select the reading box by first click, then to match the kanji by second click, instead of dragging?
