Lately I have trouble typing the kanji I want. I use the kotoeri input from my mac, typing first hiragana and then transferring it to kanji. But the problem is that it has started to split words in the middle, not giving me the possibility to get the kanji I want. For example はな won't convert to 花 anymore, keeping は and な seperate, giving posibilties just for the two seperate sounds.
Does anyone know this problem and what you can do about it?
Some things you can do are:
Make sure you have the right hiragana spelling for the kanji.
Press space after typing a word or phrase just to make sure it's going to spit out the right kanji: it's a pain to type a whole sentence, go back to try and fix something at the beginning of the sentence, then have all the hiragana not turn into kanji at the end, etc.
After you select a kanji for a certain hiragana spelling, when typed again in the same kind of grammar usage, that kanji should appear as the first choice.
Otherwise, download the Google Japanese keyboard. It's much more intuitive and seems a lot of Japanese natives have switched over to it. Here's a short "article" I wrote about it.

Thank you all for the tips. I managed to solve my problem and even added the google input so if the mac input fails another time I can just switch to the google input. :)
