I did a quick search and didn't see any previous suggestions for this.
I think it would make a lot of sense to split the kanji study vector for "meaning" into two vectors:
kanji -> meaning
meaning -> kanji
The "meaning" vectors are already split for vocab:
kana -> meaning
kanji -> meaning
meaning -> kana
meaning -> kanji
Why not kanji too?
I can see where that would be useful. however, if we do that, then the natural course of action would be to do the same with the readings as well, and now, instead of 5 study vectors, we suddenly have twice as many.
That being said, you can customize the question types you receive, and completely cut out, for example, kanji->meaning (if you want to focus on just meaning->kanji). Prior to starting a quiz/schedule, you can use the customize buttons that appear under the study vectors to add or remove certain question styles.
