I did n5 over a year ago and have been trying to study for n4 for a couple months but it just seems too much to learn.
I tried to do the crossword and only managed about 3 words, I went back and tried to n5 one and did 90% of it without trying!
It seems like the n5 words keep getting reinforced and I hear/use them but the n4 vocab is too obscure?
Any tips?
The crossword puzzles assume knowledge of all of N4 - it's unfortunately not possible to scale the contents to a user's level, as the crosswords take a long time to build. (in terms of computing time)
I'd definitely focus on a n4 mastery schedule, and once you're a bit further along that, give the puzzles another go.
We are considering personalized crossword puzzles for pro users, but if that happens, it'll be in a future release.
thanks for the reply.
It wasn't any cit on the puzzles I was just using them as a way to check my level and suddenly realized I know so little of n4 I am scared, and was wondering if anyone else had felt the same at this stage.
Imagine some of the other users will chime in sooner than later with some tips :)
I can say, although I don't remember the vocab/kanji, that the grammar in n4 is extremely useful - it definitely becomes more esoteric at the n2\n1 levels, but n4 still has stuff I use/hear/read on a daily basis. We've got n4 grammar quizzes coming quite soon, but you can actually beta test some of them (more if you are a Pro user) in the free beta available through the Help menu.
