Sometimes I like to count how many words and kanjis I know already. In this way I can say things like "for the N3 exam I need to know at least 3200 words. How many words I know already?" or "I'm just studying 20 words per day, I need to study 50 words per day if I want to know them all before the exam" and so on.

So I think would be interesting to have a counter of words and kanjis learned to follow your own personal progress. I think would be useful too if there is a chart or counter that shows you how many kanjis and words you need to study for every level of JLPT or any other exam.

For example, when you see the kanji index, you can see all the kanjis of every JLPT level and mark the kanjis you already know. That's very cool! But... would be more cool if there is a counter that says something like this:
- Kanjis left to complete N5: 0
- Kanjis left to complete N4: 10
- Kanjis left to complete N3: 50
etc.

This counter can be in the Kanji index as well. And talking about that, I think would be very useful a "words index" too, showing the words of every level of JLPT and allowing you to mark the words you learned.

This might be interesting, but it would require a level of customization on what exactly "complete" means, as it would vary for many users.

I feel that personal schedules can do a good job of this already - on the summary page, you can quickly see how many of your terms occupy the different mastery levels. So if you have an N3 schedule, for example, you can get a good feel for the "health" of the schedule in a glance.

Well, I just thought these stats for people who study for the JLPT or any other exam. The value of "complete" is equal to the quantity of terms that every level has.

For example, the N5 has 80 kanjis. We have the list of kanjis in the Kanji index. In that place, the white kanjis are the kanjis learned. The grey kanjis are the unknown kanjis.

Complete = total kanjis - kanjis known (of this level)

For example:
- Kanjis left to complete N5 = 80 - kanjis known (this value is just affected for the kanjis of the N5 list in the kanji index)

One user learned 50 kanjis of N5 and 10 of N4. Their stats are this:
- Kanjis left to complete N5 = 30

The result is 80-50=30.

And would be good to have a count for all the levels:

- Kanjis left to complete all the levels = 1940

This is calculated like this:
- Kanjis from N5 to N1 = 2000
- N5 kanjis learned = 50
- N4 kanjis learned = 10

So 2000-50-10 = 1940

Actually I have a N3 schedule. But I think these stats offer a more direct and faster way to see your stats. For schedules we need to make an schedule first and then do the lessons with those terms. But imagine I'm new in this site and I already know all the N5, N4 and N3 words and kanjis. If I make a schedule I need to review all those things I already know to update my list of "kanjis and words known".

This can takes lot of time and I guess that many people won't do a quiz of the things already know, especially if they need to review 3000 words and 300 kanjis. I guess that person will start directly with the kanjis and words of N2 and N1.

But, the stats I say, use the kanji Index as reference. So, if I already know all the N5, N4 and N3 kanjis, I will mark all of them as know and the stats will be updated in the same moment I do that. I don't remember if there is a "select all" button in the kanjis index, but that will make the work easily for people who already know all the content of an exam.

Well, this requires also a "vocabulary" index. When I entered in Renshuu I already knew many kanjis, so I marked them as known in the kanji index. Actually, I have all my progress in a table of Microsoft Excel where I have all the list of kanjis and words of JLPT. When I learn a new word I write a X in the column of the right of that word or kanji. Then I select that column and the program tells me how many X there are (terms learned). So, then I can say "I have the N3 exam in July and I just learn 20 words per day. I won't be able to learn all of them, I need to study 50 per day".

So, I guess that can be useful to have a counter of terms learned somewhere in the site.

Another detail can be added is a "calendar" to show the progress in everyday. Maybe can be a little useless, but is another way to show all the progress along the time. In this way people can see how many new terms they learned or reviewed yesterday or more days ago. The schedule summary shows you how many terms you need to study in the next but not how many terms did you study before.

Well, is just a way to analize the progress.
