I have a question about mastery levels: how many "correct answers" I need to increase the mastery level of a kanji?
I can get the 3 stars easily but, after that, I hardly can get the 4th star. Everyday I repeat the same lessons of kanji definition just for review. I have some kanjis with 9 stars in the mastery level of definition, but most of them continue with 3 stars. And I have reapeated those lesson more than 20 times when I tried to get the achivement of "2000 correct answers in a row".
Recently, I repeated 4 times four of those kanji lessons of definition with 10 kanjis each one (most of those kanjis have 3 stars in the mastery level of definition yet) and I just got one point of mastery level in one of those 40 kanjis:
However, I think is strange that many of those kanjis continue with 3 stars in the meaning category. Is this normal or maybe a bug?
P.S: the same happen with the other categories (strokes, radical and reading).
from how I understand it, you can't get more than three stars quizzing outside of mastery schedules. If you want to get higher than three stars, you should put the terms in a mastery schedule and quiz them when the site thinks you're ready to see the term again.
That could be true except because I have increased some mastery levels above 3 stars without mastery schedules. After reapeat 4 times those 4 lessons with 40 kanjis, I could get a star above level 3 in one kanji. The screenshoot I uploaded is from that moment.
Today I have gotten 2 stars above level 3.
Could it be that you aren't letting enough time pass before quizzing each term again?
From the FAQ:
"Mastery levels are typically only gotten when you quiz a term after
taking a break from answering it. Because of this, regular quizzes (and
time-based schedules) only allow you reach level 3 by repeatedly
quizzing the same set of materials. Pushing a term to level 9 can take
(at least) 9 questions spread out over several months.
Mastery levels can be pushed past level 3 in two ways: enabling
auto-reviewing in the Settings panel, and studying your materials with
mastery schedules."
Ah, that was the problem. I made a kanji mastery schedule and the mastery level of every kanji increased with every correct answer. Thanks for the info!
