Exactly as the title says. I can log in using Microsoft Edge on my PC, and Firefox on my (Android) tablet, but can't log in with Chrome. If I access the front page itself, it shows the login page instead and gives the error, "You entered an invalid user to look up!" with the URL pointing to index.php?page=user/login&guest=true&ppage=user/study_center as if I am trying to login as guest instead of look at the front page. I am able to access the "Forgot your password?" page which correctly shows my e-mail address and username are correct, and I am able to go through the password change, but when I try to log in it won't take. I also can't use Google or Facebook to log in. I am able to log in using username/password, Facebook, and Google when trying from Firefox/Edge. I've cleared my cache and cookies for Chrome, but still nothing.
Have you tried using Incognito mode in Chrome to see if there are any extensions or plugins that might be causing the issue? Please give it a shot and let me know what you see. Thanks!
Logging in with incognito did the trick. When I returned to normal Chrome, I disabled all of my extensions and plugins, but even then it still takes me to the guest "invalid user" login, so I have no idea which (if any) extensions/plugins I have are the cause of the problem.
Alright - let's try this (sorry for the complexity of this).
1. Right click anywhere on the page, click "Inspect" on the popup menu that appears.
2. Go to Resources in the box that appears (it's a tab along with other menu items).
3. Look at cookies under there. You'll need to expand the Cookies dropdown to see www.renshuu.org
4. See if there are any cookies listed there. I'm interested in the names of the cookies - not the values (please don't send them).
You had noted that you had removed the cookies, but I have a suspicion that one got leftover or snuck back in. Incognito usually doesn't use the cookies from normal browsing, which would explain why it worked there.
If there are indeed some, it'll give me a lead as to how to fix it.
Thank you again for your cooperation.
You were indeed right, think it was a leftover cookie problem. Did a thorough clean with CCleaner, now I can log in with Chrome again :D Same went for my tablet. Weird that they BOTH screwed up at the same time with the exact same problem, lol!
Anyway, thanks a billion for your help :)
No problem - I'm going to see if I cannot replicate the issue on this end so I can prevent it from happening to other users. Thank you for bringing the issue to my attention!
