The cleaning of the css is generally finished, so I have thrown together a makeshift Dark mode. You can access it from the bottom of the Settings menu.
Just for the duration of the beta, you can also change individual colors. I seriously doubt what is up there is the best that's available, so I'd love to see screenshots of adjustments, and I'll add improvements to the default colors.
That being said, as I type this post, I noticed that the forum editing tool is not in dark mode, heh. I'll fix it.
Also, let me know (with screenshots) if you feel like any colors should be changing along with the settings, but are not. It is very possible that I missed some of the declarations when I moved everything into css variables.
PS: The site will flash the old colors before the dark mode kicks in on each page load. This is required in order to allow for the manual color changing in the settings. It will not occur when the beta mode ends.
I'm liking it so far, but there are some issues. The schedules on the learn dropdown are nearly invisible. The names need to be brighter.
Blue is not the best highlighting color in dark mode (look to the left--why does everything have to be blue???). How about the light green you used for the review terms bar? I'll get a screenshot if you want one.
This gave me first a shock, then the giggles. The kao-chan coins should keep their white background even in dark mode. Some of them look positively demonic on black.
The color selection tool for all visuals settings gets partially or completely cut off for any settings below button_bg since it always appears below the setting being changed.
The "I don't know" and "You are now reviewing missed terms" boxes are a bit too bright.
I did play around a bit and made them a bit darker on my settings - I presume you can see what colors I now selected to see if those match what you would like to use?
Further, on the go pro page the section about the pro benefits has a white background but light grey font (blue highlight due to me checking if this is truly text or an image).
Kao-coins are de-demonified. Crosswords look better. Shiritori looks better. Upcoming hankos look better. Schedule text in menu is improved. Buttons inquiz have been darkened. Color picker appears above so it doesn't get cut off.
Not yet: Pro page is not done yet because I am going to redo the entire thing, so I'm not going to fix bugs when they'll be removed soon. @じゅうり - Yes, I'd love to see the highlighting you're referring to. Thanks!
Oh, sorry! The custom color settings was being a little aggressive on saving changes (even if no changes were made), so it would save the default as a custom color, and when i change the default value for some colors, it would not switch over automatically.
At the bottom of that panel, I added a reset all button. It takes a few minutes, but as long as you have not made major changes, this will ensure that you get the changes I just made.
Now, all future changes you make on that panel will be saved correctly.
Also - the lower end trophies were never meant to be bronze on that page - they were meant to be a colorless trophy. Unfortunately, due to the inability to really have "silver", the "colorless" and "silver" would look extremely similar. I switched it over to bronze - that makes more sense given the usage elsewhere in the site.
With the new radicals, kanji quizzes are much better, but the drag and drop ones are still too dark and hard to see. Strokes on or near the dotted lines are invisible.
